- Reducing traffic and congestion through disciplined land use and transportation planning, focusing on mass transit and the introduction of light rail
- Adhering to sound financial management practices including diversification of revenue sources, reducing reliance on residential property tax revenues, encouraging appropriate economic development, prioritizing capital improvement expenditures, and looking for opportunities to streamline the delivery of City services, increasing efficiency and reducing costs
- Working with the School Board, the Commonwealth and the community to fully fund the Alexandria City Public School system and to ensure that every City school is fully accredited
- Preserving the residential and historic character of our diverse neighborhoods
- Preserving and acquiring open space, parks and recreational facilities
- Meeting the needs of our older residents as well as of our diverse ethnic population
- Seeking viable solutions to our affordable housing needs
- Staying fully informed on the issues that affect our community, researching the facts and working cooperatively with all residents, businesses, city staff, and Council members to preserve and maintain Alexandria as a great city in which to live and work.
